Why I Started Easy Gen

For most of my career as a Master Electrician, I’ve worked in every kind of home you can imagine. I’ve seen the good, the bad, and the downright dangerous when it comes to backup power.

But the story behind Easy Gen isn’t about codes or breakers. It’s personal.

It started with my parents. A few winters ago, a heavy snowstorm rolled through New England. Like a lot of families, my parents lost power. They had a portable generator, but the setup was a mess — extension cords snaked through windows, the furnace sat idle, and half the house was still in the dark. They did the best they could, but I could see the stress it caused. No heat, worrying about food spoiling, and the constant hassle of running cords from room to room.

Fixing the Problem at Home

So I did what I knew how to do: I wired their home with a safe, permanent hookup. I added an inlet outside, installed an interlock kit in the panel, and gave them a heavy-duty cord that tied it all together. Now, instead of scrambling in the dark, they just roll out the generator, plug it in, flip a switch, and the essentials are back online. The furnace runs, the fridge stays cold, and the lights work. No stress. No danger.

Watching the relief on their faces, I realized something. My parents weren’t the only ones in this situation. All across New Hampshire, families were either paying tens of thousands of dollars for a full standby generator system they didn’t really need, or they were making do with a pile of extension cords and hoping nothing went wrong. There was no middle ground.

The Birth of Easy Gen

That’s when Easy Gen was born. I started this company with one simple mission: to give homeowners a smarter option. A way to protect their families during outages without draining their savings or putting themselves at risk. For about ten percent of the cost of a standby system, you can have the same peace of mind. Safe, reliable power that keeps the heat on and the food safe when the grid goes down.

Our Promise to Every Customer

Today, every install we do includes the same things I gave my parents — a clean hookup, labeled circuits, a walkthrough so you know exactly how to use it, laminated instructions, and a lifetime workmanship warranty. I wanted every family we serve to feel that same sense of relief my parents did during that storm.

Easy Gen isn’t just a business for me. It’s personal. It’s about giving people the confidence that when the lights go out, they’ll be ready.
